All that time in Dominica working with anoles (tree lizards) and I never actually caught one myself. Well, I caught one here in Costa Rica (after a few pathetic attempts). I was lucky to see it at all because, as you can see, its camouflage is incredible, reminiscent of leaf litter, bark, moss, lichen and mold. I don’t know what this species is, but I’m sure the genus is Norops. Can anyone ID it for me?

While we’re on the subject, here’s another Norops species found hanging around the house and a species of Ameiva.

But I have to say...I don't find them more exciting than in Dominica really....they're just lizards!Haha
Aw, sad farewell to Costa Rica. Amazing experience for all of us. I'll miss the weekly "trip". NZ will seem very tame after this. Phil, you should have been a journalist - you write so well and make us all laugh. Good travelling. Congrats on the new nephew.
Love Wozzer.
